FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Falcon Ridge Folk Festival @ Dodds Farm, Hillsdale. It’s Day One of the three-day fest. Today’s line-up features Tempest, Michael Braunfeld, the Gaslight Tinkers, Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem, Rod MacDonald, Abbie Gardner, David Massengill, Joe Crookston and lots more. OPERA: “The Seige of Calais” @ Glimmerglass Opera, Cooperstown. The story of courage and self-sacrifice in the year-long Siege of Calais during the Hundred Years’ War inspired composer Donizetti’s rarely-heard Italian bel canto work. 7:30pm.
MUSIC: Greg Howe @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. In his 30-year career, the guitar wizard has produced, written and arranged nine solo instrumental studio albums along with two collaboration albums with Richie Kotzen of the Winery Dogs. 7 & 9pm. $26.
THEATER: “At Home at the Zoo” @ the Unicorn Theatre, Stockbridge. Directed by Eric Hill, Edward Albee’s “At Home at the Zoo (Zoo Story)” joins Albee’s classic 1959 play, “The Zoo Story,” with its prequel, “Homelife” (2004) written 45 years later. 8pm. $52. Through Saturday, August 26.

MUSIC/CIRCUS: Philadelphia Orchestra @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. The grand finale of the Russian Festival will be a spectacular bravura of physical exertion – a Russian-themed Cirque de la Symphonie performance. 8pm.
