MUSIC: Ben Perowsky’s 3 Is a Magic Number Residency @ The Falcon, Marlboro. Mondays in July the inventive drummer showcases a variety of trios. Tonight’s threesome features keyboardist John Medeski and trumpeter Steven Bernstein. 7pm. Donations encouraged.
MUSIC: Built 4 BBQ’s Star Spangled Bonanza @ the Low Beat & Pauly’s Hotel, Albany. The fourth annual bash takes place at two neighboring venues, featuring nine bands – the End Men, the Slaughterhouse Chorus, Henry’s Rifle, Kimono Dragions, Rechorduroys, the Spirit of Violence, the Abyssmals, Matt Durfee & the Rattling Baddlies, Upstate Hussy. 6pm. $5.
MUSIC: Albany Symphony Orchestra @ Mabee Farm, Rotterdam Junction. The orchestra is joined by actors from Capital Repertory Theatre for selections from Handel and Annika Socolofsky as well as American patriotic music. 8pm. FREE. Followed by fireworks.
MUSIC: Wailing Souls @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Winston “Pipe” Matthews and Lloyd “Bread” McDonald have been singing together since 1964, when they met in the same Kingston, Jamaica, vocal class attended by the Wailers. These reggae and rocksteady legends have been thrice-nominated for Grammy Awards, and are the living connection back to the Trenchtown origins of reggae music. 8pm. $20.
THEATER: “Million Dollar Quartet” @ the Unicorn Theatre, Stockbridge. The Tony Award-winning jukebox musical delivers an evening of rock ‘n roll classics featuring Brycen Katolinsky (as Elvis Presley), Colin Summers (as Carl Perkins), Gabriel Aronson (as Jerry Lee Lewis) and Bill Sheets (as Johnny Cash). 7pm. $65.
