THEATER: Bread & Puppet Theater @ Time + Space Ltd., Hudson. Director Peter Schumann’s latest production is “Faust 3,” a proletarian rumination on displacement, heaven and satisfaction in the tradition of Medieval Faust puppet shows and Goethe’s epic verse drama. 7:30pm. $15; $10 students & children; $30 show and pre-show meal at 6:30pm.

MUSIC: Coal Palace Kings @ the Low Beat, Albany. The Albany alt-country pioneers – Jeff Sohn (bass, vocals), Howe Glassman (guitar, vocals), Don Ackerman (drums, vocals) and Jason Hughes (guitar) – reunite after a 12-year hiatus. 6pm.

MUSIC: Michael Eck @ Altamont Free Library, Altamont. The SongTellers Sessions series continues with one of the busiest men on the Local 518 music scene. Subtitled Michael Eck Comes Alive. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Richard Shindell @ The Linda, Albany. The sublime singer-songwriter rolls into town in support of his new album, Careless. Jim Gaudet opens the show with a rare solo performance. Fiddler Sara Milonovich will join them both. 8pm.

MUSIC: Rob Aronstein @ Cock ‘n Bull, Galway. 6pm.

MUSIC/ART: Art Forms of Dimensions Tomorrow @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. The early art and archives of Sun Ra paired with contemporary sonic and sound-inspired artworks. With live music from Matana Roberts & Kamau Patton. 8pm. FREE.

TALK: “Theories of Laughter” @ Bethlehem Public Library, Delmar. What’s so funny? Skidmore professor Beck Krefting examines the history, theory and function of laughter using the contemporary comedy of Hari Kondabolu, Maria Bamford, Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, Louis CK and others as a backdrop. 1pm. THEATER: “Beautiful” @ Proctors, Schenectady. She’s one of the great pop songwriters of the Brill Building era, and there’s so much more to the music of Carole King than just her multi-platinum hit album Tapestry. 8pm. $20-$100. Through Sunday.

MUSIC: Tempest @ the Parting Glass, Saratoga Springs. Veteran San Francisco-based Celtic rockers. 8pm. $10.

MUSIC: The Roughouts @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The band plays original songs and roots-country, bluegrass and old time tunes. The mini-fest of regional Americana continues with the old-jazz, ragtime and blues of Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s. 9pm.

MUSIC: Zex @ the Low Beat, Albany. The Ottawa band writes classic punk in which the youth and energy of the band members belie unexpectedly experienced songwriting. With Capitle and New Life. 9pm. $8.
