MUSIC: My Darling Clementine @ the Cock ‘n Bull Restaurant, Galway. The British duo of Michael Weston King & Lou Dalgleish pay homage to the classic country duets of the ’60s and ’70s… and they do Americana better than 90 percent of American contemporary country singers. 7pm. $15.

THEATER: “Beautiful” @ Proctors, Schenectady. It’s opening night! She’s one of the great pop songwriters of the Brill Building era, and there’s so much more to the music of Carole King than just her multi-platinum hit album Tapestry. 7:30pm. $20-$100. Through Sunday.

READING: Gregory Pardlo @ Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies Building’s Biotech Auditorium at RPI, Troy. The poet was awarded the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his 2014 collection, “Digest.” He is also the author of “Air Traffic,” a memoir in essays forthcoming from Knopf. 8pm. FREE.

TALK: Baratunde Thurston @ Skidmore College’s Palamountain Hall, Saratoga Springs. Among other things, the comedian-author-more has worked for The Onion, produced for “The Daily Show,” advised the Obama White House, cleaned bathrooms to pay for his Harvard education, co-founded Cultivated Wit and the About Race podcast and wrote The New York Times bestseller “How to Be Black.” 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Pierre Bensusan @ The Falcon, Marlboro. Amazing world-music guitar master. 7pm. Donation encouraged.

TALK: “Tools for Un-islanding? The CreoleGeographies of Dominica’s Popular Music” @ Williams College’s Bernhard Music Center’s Room 30, Williamstown. A lecture by Professor of Music and Africana Studies Timothy Rommen of University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Sciences. 4:15pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Carol Carroll’s Piano All-Stars @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Student piano recital. 7:30pm. $5.

DANCE WORKSHOP: From Feldenkrais to GoPro @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Choreographer Mary Armentrout is in residence to develop a new performance with media artist Ian Winters, composer Evelyn Ficarra and performer Chris Evans. Together, the collaborators will lead a workshop in which participants explore the intersections of bodily experience and technology. 5pm. FREE.
