MUSIC: 10 Strings & a Goatskin @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The folk/fusion trio – fiddle, guitar and bodhran – plays energetic original and traditional music from their homeland of Canada’s Prince Edward Island. 7pm. $20.
MUSIC: Teri Roiger @ Senate Garage, Kingston. Celebrating the release of her new album, Ghost of Yesterday: Shades of Lady Day, the jazz singer is joined by saxman Jay Collins, pianist Wayne Hawkins, bassist John Menegon and drummer Steve Williams. 7:30pm. $15.
MUSIC: Homegrown String Band @ Crandall Public Library’s Folklife Center, Glens Falls. Rooted in the music of rural string and jug bands of the 1920s and ’30s, this real family band from Long Island uses an assortment of instruments (including guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, banjo ukulele, mountain dulcimer, harmonica, and jaw harp) to also perform their own original
songs with a nod to blues, bluegrass, jazz and rock ‘n roll.
THEATER: “ChipandGus: A Comedy With Balls” @ Proctors’ Fenimore Gallery, Schenectady. It’s the story of two friends, oddball acquaintances. Set in a rundown game-room of a rundown sports bar in Schenectady, their monthly ping pong game uncovers buried secrets in this moving comedy. 7:30pm. $25. Through Saturday.
ARTIST TALK: Janine Antoni & Stephen Petronio @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. The artist-scholars discuss their ongoing artistic collaboration and the current exhibition, “Janine Antoni & Stephen Petronio: Entangle.” 7pm. FREE.
