COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

Here’s a last-minute concert announcement – award-winning Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kate Campbell will be joined by Local 518 multi-instrumentalist John Kirk in concert at the Eighth Step at Proctors’ Underground in Schenectady at 7:30pm on Friday (March 24). Tickets are $24 in advance; $27 at the door; $40 Gold Circle.
In more late-breaking concert news, classically trained pianist Holly Bowling – known for her unique solo interpretations of songs from the vast catalogs of Phish and the Grateful Dead – steps into the spotlight at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady’s Whisperdome at 7:30pm on Friday (March 24). Advance tickets are available now, priced at $15; $20 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Bob Dylan is headed to Kingston to christened the new concert venue at the Hutton Brickyards. Tickets go on sale to general public at 11am on Saturday (March 26).
UPDATE: Priced at $19.50, lawn tickets are now available for the Tedeschi Trucks Band concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Monday, July 3, which was previously a pavilion-only show. The Wood Brothers and Hot Tuna will share the bill.
In Troy, the Hangar on the Hudson has booked a handful of new shows including the traditional Celtic sounds of Copley Street with Owen Marshall at 7:30pm on Friday (March 24) ($10); the Kurt Baker Combo with Soraia and the Connection at 9pm on Friday, April 7 ($10); Troy’s premier power trio Super 400 at 9pm on Saturday, May 13 ($10); and the return of the wily old Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard at 8pm on Saturday, June 3 ($20).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Presented by The Egg, the powerhouse instrumental double-bill of Bela Fleck & the Flecktones and the Chick Corea Elektric Band is headed into the Palace Theatre. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Friday (March 24).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Brandi Carlile, Railroad Earth, the Del McCoury Band with David Grisman, Del & Dawg, Bill Frisell, the Wood Brothers and the Suitcase Junket are among the bands announced in the first round of announcements for the 2017 FreshGrass festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Tanglewood in Lenox has announced two more pop concerts for the 2017 summer season – Diana Ross and Melissa Etheridge with the Boston Pops. Tickets for both shows go on sale at 10am on Monday (March 27).
OPENERS: The Record Company has snagged the opening act slot for John Mayer at Albany’s Times Union Center on Friday, March 31.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Headlined by Brazilian/bluegrass/beyond band Matuto with Red Haired Strangers, the Lazy Suns and the Heavenly Echoes, the annual Roots Music Festival returns to The Linda in Albany next month. Tickets are on sale now.
Named “Best Downtown Performance Artist in New York” in 2013 by The Village Voice, Joseph Keckler brings his awe-inspiring three-plus octave voice to Club Helsinki in Hudson at 7pm on Sunday, April 2 for a concert to benefit the Hudson cat shelter Animalkind. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $25; $60 VIP.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Saratoga Performing Arts Center announced the details of the upcoming concert by Florida Georgia Line with Nelly and Chris Lane. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (March 24).
The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock welcomes the cigar-smokin’ singer-songwriter-mystery author and former candidate for the Governor of Texas – the one-and-only Kinky Friedman in concert with Brian Molnar at 8:30pm on Thursday, April 20. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $20, $30 & $35 in advance; five dollars more at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The line-up for the comedy stage at MASS MoCA’s Solid Sound festival this summer features host John Hodgman with Michael Ian Black, Eugene Mirman, Aparna Nancherla and Nick Offerman, plus Jean Grae’s “The Show Show” with DJ Quelle Chris. Tickets are on sale now.
SOLD OUT: The concert by Machine Gun Kelley scheduled for the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Tuesday, May 9 is now officially sold out.
