MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Red Baraat @ The Egg’s Swyer Theatre, Albany. The Sierra Leonean singer has almost single-handedly revived the ancient tradition of Bubu, updating a form with 500-year-old roots in magic-infused folk ceremony into frenetic, hypnotic dance music with flourishes of electronica. 8pm. $22 & $28; $10 students.

OPERA: “The Bremen Town Musicians” @ Woodlawn Commons, Saratoga Springs. Opera Saratoga performs John Davies’ children’s opera based on the Brothers Grimm folk tale, featuring the music of Offenbach, Rossini, Donizetti and Verdi. 2pm. FREE.
