MUSIC: Ambrose Akinmusire Quartet @ The Falcon, Marlboro. The forward-thinking post-bop trumpeter blows into town with pianist Sam Harris, bassist Harish Raghavan and drummer Justin Brown in support of his latest album The Imagined Savior Is Far Easier to Paint. EVENT: Albany Record Riot @ Ramada Plaza, Albany. More than 50 tables of records, CDs and memorabilia for sale. Dealers from all over the East Coast and Montreal with everything from dollar vinyl to a mono copy of Sgt Pepper. 10am-5pm. $3; early admission at 8am $10.

TALK: The Sound of Style @ Albany Institute of History & Art, Albany. A lecture by Dr. Mary Davis, Dean of Graduate Studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology, about the “anti-fashion” of rock and roll musicians with a focus on Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. 2pm. Free with museum admission.

MUSIC: G Jones @ the River Street Pub, Troy. In support of his brand new EP Visions. With the Widdler and Eastghost. 8pm. UPDATE: This show is now officially sold out.

MUSIC: Albany Symphony Orchestra @ Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, Saratoga Springs. With “Finding DO-RE (and MI),” David Alan Miller, the orchestra and four young singers dive into an epic undersea operatic adventure featuring music by Mozart, Rossini, Verdi and Puccini. 2pm. $20.

MUSIC: Young Performers Showcase @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The Community Music Space in Red Hook is an artistic educational center that provides a voice for music and acting in the Hudson Valley. This is a showcase for their talents. 7pm. $10.

THEATER: “Urinetown” @ Schenectady Light Opera Company, Schenectady. Last chance! Marc Christopher directs the 2001 Tony Award winning musical comedy. 2pm. $18-$28.

CABARET: Shut the Brunch Up! @ the Comedy Works, Saratoga Springs. Cabaret artist Nancy Timpanaro-Hogan and musical director John McMahon inaugurate the monthly cabaret brunch session. 1:30pm. $44.95.

THEATER: “Southern Comforts” @ Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Averill Park. Last chance! Barry Streifert directs Circle Theatre Productions’ performance of Kathleen Clark’s romantic play about second chances at love late in life. 2:30pm. $18: $10 under age 18.
