Garry Tallent Teams Up with Eddie Angel & Hits the Road
Now Garry Tallent is The Boss…
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is the last remaining charter member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, and over the years, he’s been content to play bass and stay in the background.
But last year he finally stepped up to the microphone to record his debut solo album, Break Time, with Los Straitjackets’ Eddie Angel enlisted as co-producer. Chockfull of Tallent’s own songs that resonate with the energy of early rock & roll, from Cajun to rockabilly, from honky-tonk to R&B, the album also features guest appearances by Doug Kershaw, Duane Eddy, Kristi Rose and E Street Band mate Nils Lofgren.
Tallent will, of course, be part of Springsteen’s Australia / New Zealand tour that begins next week and runs through February, but now he’s also finally found time to hit the road for his first-ever solo tour in April and May, and guitarslinger Eddie Angel will be leading the band behind him.
No shows are currently booked for the immediate Nippertown area, but the tour is scheduled to make stops at nearby Daryl’s House in Pawling on Wednesday, May 3 and Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, Mass. on Thursday, May 4.
