LIVE: Cliff Brucker’s Full Circle @ the Van Dyck, 12/22/16

Review and photographs by Rudy Lu
Holiday treats started early for fans of bebop and post-bop jazz when Cliff Brucker’s Full Circle played two full sets of the music for a roomful of avid fans packed into the Van Dyck in Schenectady.
The trumpet of accomplished arranger and trumpeter Dylan Canterbury and veteran saxophonist Leo Russo were the classic trumpet/saxophone lead. Having a piano player and guitar player in the persons of Larry Ham and Mike Novakowksi made for a fuller than expected sound. With Cliff Brucker on drums and Otto Gardner as the rhythm section driving the tunes, made for an evening of pleasurable listening to fans. And as an added treat, Teresa Broadwell sat in as vocalist for the second set.
