Ted Leo – leader of the Pharmacists and one-half of the Both (along with Aimee Mann) – is headed into the Low Beat in Albany on Sunday, November 20. Ian Sweet opens the show at 7pm. Advance tickets are on sale now, priced at $13.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comedian Brian Regan has slated a return to Albany’s Palace Theatre. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (September 30).
Legendary jazz-rock fusion pioneers Brand X – featuring John Goodsall (guitar), Percy Jones (bass) and Kenwood Dennard (drums) along with new recruits Chris Clark (keys) and Scott Weinberger (percussion) – have reunited and will perform material from their first three albums at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 8pm on Saturday, October 29. Tickets are $20, $29 & $39 in advance; $5 more at the door. Meanwhile, the Security Project – the Peter Gabriel tribute band led by drummer Jerry Marotta and guitarist Trey Gunn – returns to Bearsville at 8pm on Sunday, October 30 with a new singer fronting the band – former Albany resident Happy Rhodes. Tickets are $20, $25 & $35 in advance; $5 more at the door. Other new shows at the Woodstock theater include the 14-piece Orquesta Victoria at 9pm on Saturday, November 5 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door); the double-bill of Dopapod and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at 9pm on Saturday, November 19 ($18 in advance; $20 at the door); the Catskills’ own Felice Brothers at 9pm on Friday, November 25 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door); and jam-grass favorites Cabinet at 8:30pm on Thursday, December 1 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Palace Theatre added a second show for “Impractical Jokers” live. The originally announced show is at 6:30pm on Friday, December 16. The newly announced show – which goes on sale at 10am on Friday (September 30) – is the same night at 9:30pm.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Celtic Woman are coming to the Palace Theatre in Albany with their Voices of Angels Tour. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Wednesday, October 5.
The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield hosts the double-bill of Will Evans & Rising Tide with the Whiskey Treaty Roadshow at 8pm on Thursday, October 27 as part of its On the Stage series. Tickets are $25.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco is bringing his Why Would You Do That? Tour to Proctors in Schenectady. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (September 30).
Hedda Lettuce brings her Holiday Spectacular to Club Helsinki in Hudson at 7pm on Sunday, December 18.
CANCELLED: The concert by The The Band Band – a Band tribute band that was scheduled to perform The Band’s second album, The Band, in its entirety – at The Egg on Saturday, December 3, has been cancelled.
Frontman Vinnie Dombroski is the only original member left in the current line-up of the ’90s rock band Sponge, but he’ll lead the band into King Neptune’s Pub in Lake George on Friday, October 7. Phillips Head opens the show. Doors open at 7pm, and tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door; $50 VIP meet-and-greet.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s not a concert, but it’s pretty cool… Famed photographer Elliott Landy is coming to The Egg to present a talk with images, “Picturing The Band with Photographer Elliott Landy,” based on his recently published book, “The Band, Photographs: 1968-1969.” Landy will also conduct a Q&A session, followed by a screening of a documentary on The Band. Admission is free, but reservations are required.
Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock welcomes the Jimmy V-4 – featuring Jimmy Vivino, Danny Louis, Jesse Williams and Mark Teixeira – at 8pm on Saturday, October 8 ($35 & $50), as well as Traffic tribute band Glad – featuring Mark Rivera, Jeff Kazee and Rich Pagano – at 8pm on Saturday, December 3 ($30 & $35).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy announced its fall schedule of events, including upcoming concerts by Frank Lacy & 1032K and Trio Da Kali.
CANCELLED: Comedian Jena Friedman was slated to perform at MASS MoCA’s Club B-10 in North Adams on Saturday night (October 1), but her appearance has been cancelled. Filling in for her will be comedian Tim Dillon.
OPENERS: Anthony D’Amato opens for Liz Longley at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield at 8pm on Saturday, October 8… The DuPont Brothers open for the Suitcase Junket at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Friday, October 21.
