From The New York Times: Peter Keepnews’ obituary for the great jazz harmonica player and composer Toots Thielemans, who died this week at the age of 94. He recorded with everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to Joni Mitchell, and in a review of his 2002 concert with Kenny Werner at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, I wrote, “Thielemans played with more sheer joy and childlike vibrancy than an entire army of teen-pop boy bands.” His last Greater Nippertown performance was at Tanglewood in 2005 as a member of the Caribbean Jazz Project.
