FREE FEST: Capital Pride Festival @ Washington Park

The Pride Center of the Capital Region has announced the entertainment schedule for the Capital Pride Festival and Parade, which is taking place on Saturday (June 11), in Albany’s Washington Park.

Headlining this year’s free festival is dance/pop star Dev, who has topped the charts with such hits as “Booty Bounce,” “Bass Down Low” and “In the Dark.” So far Dev’s music videos have generated nearly 100 million views on YouTube – with over 50 million for the “In the Dark” video alone.

Opening up for Dev is “American Idol” finalist David Hernandez. After leaving the seventh season of “American Idol,” Hernandez embarked on a successful solo career with the single called “What You Do” aka “WTF” (produced by the Printz Board of the Black Eyed Peas). 2016 finds him back with “Beautiful,” a new single that he co-wrote.

Rounding out the afternoon’s entertainment will be Greater Nippertown favorites Taina Asili y la Banda Rebelde, Macero, Bell’s Roar and DJ Dave Barna. The Capital Pride Festival will be emceed by FLY92 DJs Shawn Gillie and Wanda Hudson.

Capital PRIDE is produced by the Pride Center of the Capital Region, whose mission is to promote the well being of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer identified people and those affected by discrimination based on gender identity and expression.

And at 11pm on Friday (June 10) at the Waterworks Pub in Albany, David Hernandez will present a special up-close and personal benefit performance for the Pride Center of the Capital Region.
