FREE: Bands Announced for Albany’s Dad Fest
Last summer, the City of Albany launched the inaugural Dad Fest, a new variation on the annual Father’s Day concert. And next month the free fest returns for its second year, but it’s moving to a new location.
The sophomore Dad Fest will be held on Sunday, June 19 at the Washington Park Parade Grounds, the same site as the Tulip Festival Main Stage. (If it’s good enough for Mother’s Day, it’s good enough for Father’s Day, too.)
Here’s the schedule of band for the 2016 Dad Fest:
1:30pm: THE BONDVILLE BOYS
An original, eclectic roots and bluegrass band from Vermont, the Bondville Boys are known for their sweet harmonies, excellent musicianship, great energy and eclectic setlists that touch on everything from Flatts & Scruggs to Blondie.
3pm: BRYAN THOMAS
Bryan Thomas is a super soul rock singer-songwriter from Albany who makes marvelous music in his basement. On rare occasions, he will release this music into the world, sometimes as audio, sometimes as video. Sometimes, even, in person.
4:30pm: SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY & THE POOR FOOLS
Led by New Jersey rock ‘n’ roll legend Southside Johnny Lyon of the famed Asbury Jukes, Southside Johnny & The Poor Fools embark on a stripped down journey through Lyon’s eclectic version of the Great American Songbook, which includes Dylan, Mose Allison, Muddy Waters, NRBQ, Richard Thompson, Emmylou Harris, The Band, George Jones and more, as well as Southside’s Asbury Jukes classics.
