The Low Beat in Albany has added a couple of top-notch shows for the summer, including the return of Wussy at 8pm on Saturday, July 9 ($10 in advance); the Albany debut of Bloodshot recording artists Freakwater with Drunken Prayer at 8pm on Thursday, July 21 ($12 in advance); and Two Cow Garage at 8pm on Friday, July 29 ($10 in advance).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Troy’s free Rockin’ On the River Concert Series takes over Riverfront Park this summer with performances by Start Making Sense, the Troy Music Academy All-Stars, Skeeter Creek, MaryLeigh Roohan, So So Glos, Stellar Young, Almost Queen, Eastbound Jesus, North & South Dakotas, the Felice Brothers, The Parlor, Blues for Breakfast, Caroline Rose and Rabbit in the Rye.
Albany’s Parish Public House has added some sweet new shows to its upcoming roster of concerts, including the return of forward-thinking jazz guitarist Will Bernard and his trio on Friday, June 3 and some mighty rollicking (and spicy) Big Easy sounds from the Joe Krown Trio on Saturday, July 9 ($15) and Big Sam’s Funky Nation on Friday, July 15 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The line-up of bands has been revealed for the free Music Haven concert series in Schenectady’s Central Park, including Pape Diouf et la Generation Consciente, Umoja African Dance & Drumming, Jerry Douglas Presents the Earls of Leicester, Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys, Gary Nuney y Plena Libre, Jose Conde Unplugged, Monty Alexander’s Harlem Kingston Trio, Alfred St. John’s Trinidad & Tobago Steelband, DakhaBrakha, Tavche Gravche, Dervish and Matt & Shannon Heaton.
Down in Woodstock, the Bearsville Theater is hosting a benefit concert for Khusi Hona Woodstock featuring John Medeski & Friends on Sunday, June 12. Special guests for the 7pm show include Amy Helm, Marco Benevento, Simi Stone, Elizabeth Mitchell, Dan Littleton, Jerry Marotta, Mike Rivard, Peter Dougan, Buried Treasure, Tulsi Anna, Marlon Dubois, Ruby Nagelberg, Fenner Osmond, Lucas Siegel and more. Tickets are $20, $30, $40 & $55. Also on tap at Bearsville are Wise Old Moon with the Dylan Doyle Band at 9pm on Friday, June 24 ($10 in advance; $12 at the door); and Jamaican reggae great King Yellowman & the Sagittarius Band at 9pm on Saturday, August 20 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door; $50 reserved).
Also down in Woodstock, veteran folkie Happy Traum takes over the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts with his songs-and-stories show, “Coming of Age in the Greenwich Village Folk Revival and the Woodstock Scene (1954-1971),” at 8pm on Saturday, June 18. Tickets are $20.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Robert Cray Band is slated for a return to The Egg’s Hart Theatre in Albany. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (May 27).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: UK experimental folk group Lau, mandolin virtuoso Sierra Hull, Texas blues-roots sensation Ruthie Foster, Northampton alt-folksters Parsonsfield and Mexican bluegrasser Rana Santacruz have been nadded to the line-up for FreshGrass at MASS MoCA in North Adams.
The Cock ‘n Bull up in Galway is celebrating its 40th anniversary this weekend, and the big birthday bash on Sunday (May 29) features a 7pm concert by the Lonely Heartstring Band, as well as a 3pm community BBQ, all for just $25.

British singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jack Garratt lands at Albany’s Hollow Bar + Kitchen at 8pm on Sunday, June 19 in support of his new debut album, Phases. Also new at the Hollow is the Queens duo Lewis del Mar at 8pm on Thursday, June 16 for the Alive at Five after-party.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Three more new shows have been added to the Lake George Arts Project’s Free Summer Concert Series in Shepard Park, including Professor Louie & the Crowmatix with the Rock of Ages horn section, Dustbowl Revival and punk-polka combo the Alex Meixner Band.
