Win FREE Tickets to Thomas Mapfumo & the Blacks Unlimited @ the Sanctuary for Independent Media on Saturday

Happy 10th anniversary to Troy’s Sanctuary for Independent Media!

And in celebration of the birthday, the Sanctuary is hosting a big concert by the African protest songsmith and anti-apartheid legend Thomas Mapfumo and his band the Blacks Unlimited at 8pm on Saturday (April 2).

With his fierce, gruff baritone, Thomas Mapfumo has been the musical voice of protest in Zimbabwe and all of southern Africa for nearly half a century. Easily the most famous singer in his native country, Mapfumo lives in exile from the regime of Robert Mugabe, and his music is banned at home.

Tickets to the all-ages celebration in Troy are currently available for $20.

BUT WAIT… We’re giving away a pair of FREE TICKETS to the show to a lucky Nippertown reader. To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The deadline to enter is 12:30pm on Friday (April 1), and the winners will be selected at random and notified on Friday afternoon. Enter today! And good luck! Congratulations to the winner who has been notified by email.
