MUSIC: Aaron Neville @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. New Orleans’ finest soul singers slips into the intimate Club Helsinki on St. Patrick’s Day. THEATER: “Spoon River Anthology” @ Siena College’s Theater Studio 107, Loudonville. A staged reading of Edgar Lee Masters’ poetic masterwork adapted and directed by Eileen Schuyler. 8pm. FREE. Through Saturday.
MUSIC: St. Patrick’s Day Tribute to Rory Gallagher @ the Dutch Haven Golf Course, Buskirk. Brian LaPoint & the Joints serve up an homage to one of Ireland’s greatest musicians, Rory Gallagher. Expect a handful of traditional Irish songs, too. 6pm.
THEATER: “The Blue Sky Boys” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Deborah Brevoort’s play is an exhilarating romp through the creative minds of the maverick engineers who stopped at nothing to get a man to the moon and back. THEATER: “Miracle on South Division Street” @ the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Averill Park. The Circle Theatre Players present the heartwarming comedy by Tom Dudzick and directed by Val Kavanaugh and Sue Frost. Meet the Nowaks of Buffalo: Clara and her three grown kids have always known they were special, ever since the miraculous night in 1942 when the Blessed Mother appeared to Grandpa in his barbershop. 8pm. $18; $10 under age 18; $2 discount with a canned good donation. FILM: “Drawing on Life” @ the Opalka Gallery, Albany. Following a series of Irish architects in their studios, this 2014 documentary film explores the importance of hand drawing and its almost primeval power to capture ideas and communicate imagination amidst our frenetic digital world. 6:30pm.
