CD Release Party: Dust Bowl Faeries @ Club Helsinki on Sunday [Berkshire on Stage]
Hudson’s own Dust Bowl Faeries, ther gothic chamber-folk outfit led by interdisciplinary artist Ryder Cooley, will celebrate the release of their self-titled debut album at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Sunday (March 6). The band will be joined by a handful of guest musicians who appear on the album. The Dust Bowl Faeries show represents Club Helsinki’s commitment to programming regional, emerging and rising artists.
The group’s eponymous debut album was produced by music critic and author Seth Rogovoy, recorded by composer-drummer Bobby Previte and rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Tommy Stinson, and mixed and mastered by Rachel Alina, in and around Hudson.
Says Rogovoy: “When I first saw Dust Bowl Faeries in summer 2014, I was bowled over by the songs and the sound and performance. Ryder Cooley reached out after reading my review, as she thought it perfectly captured in writing what she was going after in her music. Having been a music critic for 30 years or so, I always thought it would be fun to apply my experience, ear, and expertise to helping an artist achieve her goals, either onstage and/or in the studio. At the time, the group had no plans for recording, although Ryder very much wanted to do so.”
