2/24/16: Today’s Top Tips: Wednesday


MUSIC: James McMurtry @ The Hangar, Troy. The terrific Texas troubadour takes over Troy with a solo show in support of his new album, Complicated Game. 8pm. $25.

MUSIC: The Soul Rebels @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The Village Voice called them “the missing link between Public Enemy and Louis Armstrong.” The dynamic New Orleans brass ensemble mixes horns, vocals and percussion on original compositions and covers from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Daft Punk, Eurythmics and more, always laying down that irresistible Crescent City groove. 8pm.

MUSIC: Gaelic Storm @ The Egg’s Swyer Theatre, Albany. Since their performance in the 1997 blockbuster hit “Titanic” catapulted them to international acclaim, the band has remained one of the world’s foremost Celtic fusion bands. They’re returning to The Egg in support of their latest release, Matching Sweaters. 7:30pm. $34.

MUSIC: Kaki King @ the Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton. “The Neck Is a Bridge to the Body” is the guitar virtuoso at her visionary best, redefining the role of a solo instrumental artist though masterful technique, insatiable imagination and boundless humanity in a groundbreaking new multi-media performance. With Wishbone Zoe. 7pm. $18.

COMEDY: Ben Kronberg @ The Garage, Pittsfield. 8pm. $15.
