Bits & Pieces: Hollywood Vampires, Dominic Fallacaro, Wild Adriatic, CRBN Blues Jam, WGXC-FM Art Auction


Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Johnny Depp, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum… Yeah, that’s a bona fide all-star line-up. And if you managed to stay awake through Monday’s Grammy Awards show and dug the Hollywood Vampires’ explosive performance/Motorhead tribute assault, you may be interested to know that the all-star hard-rockin’ combo has announced that they’ll be kicking off their tour with their first-ever east coast gig on the outskirts of Greater Nippertown – at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona on Tuesday, May 24. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Tuesday (February 23), priced at $64, $69 & $74.

Congrats go out to Dominic Fallacaro, Niskayuna native (now based in Brooklyn), who took home a Grammy Award on Monday (February 15) for his work as producer-composer-engineer-guitarist-keyboarding-background vocalist on Tim Kubart’s Home, which was awarded the Best Children’s Album trophy.

Is it rolling, Bob? Wild Adriatic takes over Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs on Saturday night (February 20) for a special performance that will be recorded for the band’s upcoming live album. Joining Wild Adriatic will be Saratoga up-and-comers, Let’s Be Leonard, who kick off the festivities at 9:30pm. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.

The Capital Region Blues Network’s weekly Sunday night Blues Jam has found a new home. Beginning at 7:30pm this Sunday (February 21) the blues jam will be hosted by McGeary’s Pub in Albany (just across the street from the Palace Theatre). Hosting on Sunday will be guitarslinger Matt Mirabile. Admission is free; donations are encouraged.

An auction of visual art works to benefit Wave Farm’s community radio station WGXC 90.7-FM in Hudson. Wave Farm programs celebrate creative and community use of media and the airwaves, including WGXC, a participatory radio station in New York’s Hudson Valley, which devotes unprecedented airtime to radio as an artistic medium. This online auction – featuring 48 art works in a wide variety of media – runs through Friday, February 26, commemorating WGXC’s fifth anniversary. PS: You can also view and bid on the artworks in-person at +Space in Catskill from 10am-6pm Monday-Friday (February 22 – 26).
