COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

Two-time R&B Grammy Award-winning pianist Robert Glasper brings his acoustic jazz trio to Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Friday, February 26, in support of his latest Blue Note album, Covered, which delves into the music of Radiohead, Musiq (Soulchild), Harry Belafonte, Bilal and Joni Mitchell, as well as such standards as “Stella by Starlight.” Tickets are on sale now, priced at $8; $5 seniors; free for students and children.

Louisiana favorites Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas fire up a Mardi Gras dance party at the Century Club in Amsterdam on Friday, February 12. The party – a fundraiser for the Amsterdam Waterfront Foundation’s annual Riverlink Park concert series – features a cocktail hour at 6pm; Cajun buffet catered by Dan’s Backyard BBQ at 7pm; music at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now priced at $50 in advance; $60 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comedian and Emmy Award-winner David Cross steps into the spotlight at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for an evening of stand-up comedy. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (January 8).

The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has added a handful of new shows to kick off the new year. Rapper Remy Ma grabs the mic on Saturday, January 16 with DJ Show and DJ Static among the support acts. The show starts are 8pm, and advance tickets are currently available for $35 ($45 at the door). Silverstein takes the UCH stage on Monday, March 28, with Being as an Ocean, Emarosa, Coldrain and Rarity opening the show at 6:40pm. Tickets are on sale now for $18 in advance; $22 at the door. Between the Buried and Me and August Burns Red co-headline on Saturday, April 16, with the Faceless and Good Tiger opening at 6:30pm. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, priced at $22.50 in advance; $25 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Justin Hayward – the frontman for the legendary Moody Blues – is slated for an intimate concert at The Egg’s Hart Theatre in Albany. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (January 8).

Charles Busch – a two-time MAC Award-winner, Tony nominee and recipient of a Drama Desk Lifetime Achievement Award – has created a new cabaret show, “The Lady at the Mic,” which is slated to premier at Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series at the end of February. But Greater Nippertown audiences will get two chances to see it before then. A tribute to four cabaret legends (Elaine Stritch, Polly Bergen, Julie Wilson and Mary Cleere Harran), as well as Joan Rivers – the show will have preview performances at the Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill at 8pm on Saturday, February 20 ($40) and Club Helsinki in Hudson at 7pm on Sunday, February 21 ($TBA).

The Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton welcomes sublime singer-songwriter Jill Sobule at 7pm on Thursday, February 4 ($17.50 in advance; $20 at the door); the Graham Parker Duo (featuring Brinsley Schwarz) at 7pm on Wednesday, April 13 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door); singer-songwriter Chris Pureka at 7pm on Friday, April 22 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); and Melissa Ferrick with Western Den at 7pm on Saturday, May 7 ($22.50 in advance; $25 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Christian pop band the Newsboys are slated to return to the Glens Falls Civic Center. Tickets are now on sale.

The Linda in Albany will play host to Van Morrison tribute band Moondance at 8pm on Saturday, March 26. Tickets are currently on sale, priced at $20.

It’s a tribute to Pink Floyd featuring the Stone Revival Band and Chuck D’Aloia at The Hangar in Troy at 8pm on Saturday, January 23. Advance ticketsa are on sale now, priced at $10.

OPENERS: Palehound opens for Bully at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Friday (January 8)… The Fairground Saints have snagged the opening slot for Jackie Greene at The Egg’s Swyer Theatre in Albany on Friday, February 12… Brooklyn’s Big Thief will be sharing the stage with Eleanor Friedberger at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Saturday, February 20.
