LIVE: The Eli Young Band @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, 11/10/15

Led by Mike Eli (vocals, guitar) and James Young (guitar), the Eli Young Band took the stage at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on a Tuesday night last month in front of a jam-packed house.

But the Texas-based country quartet didn’t exactly dish out the rollicking kind of show that they’ve pumped out at the Times Union Center in recent years opening for Darius Rucker (2014) and Kenny Chesney (2013).

Instead, they offered a more intimate concert experience, as Eli, Young, bassist Jon Jones and percussionist Chris Thompson sat on stage on stools for a semi-acoustic performance that allowed the focus to land squarely on the craft of the songs, including their No. 1 hits “Crazy Girl,” “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” and the opening “Drunk Last Night,” as well as newer selections like “Your Place or Mine” and the title track from their latest EP, Turn It On.
