MUSIC: Spuyten Duyvil @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Led by the songwriting couple of Mark Miller and Beth Jamie Kaufman, the Hudson Valley sextet melds old-time, blues, second line, bluegrass and folk-rock in support of their latest album The Social Music Hour Vol. 1. 8pm. $22.

FILM/MUSIC: Keys Open Doors: The Hidden Life of Laura Palmer @ MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center, North Adams. It’s a “Twin Peaks” junky’s dream: a new edit mashing up the film — and the missing pieces — surrounding the mysterious last moments in the life of Laura Palmer. The live score is by A Place Both Wonderful and Strange, a dark dance-pop band equally inspired by Mr. Lynch and Janet Jackson. 8pm. $25 & $35; $12 students.

MUSIC: Free Beer And Chicken @ the Parish Public House, Albany. Yes, they’re back for a very special Halloween show, reuniting for an evening titled “Ghosts of Jam Bands Past” (cue spooky music). So shake the cobwebs and join in as FB&C celebrates the songs of moe., Ominous Seapods, Moon Boot Lover, Yolk and others, as well as their own. With Groovestick. 9pm. $12.

MUSIC: The Erotics @ the Low Beat, Albany. It’s a Mischief Night/ Halloween Bash. It’s a CD release party for their new three-song EP, Three Sheets to the Wind. And it’s a bon voyage party for the band who are headed overseas for their seventh UK tour. With Horror Business and the return of Phillips Head. 9pm. $7.

MUSIC: John Nazarenko Trio @ the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady’s Whisperdome, Schenectady. A Place for Jazz concert series continues with the pianist/senior artist-in-residence at Skidmore College, where he teaches jazz piano and coaches jazz ensembles. He is also on the music faculty at Williams College and directs jazz studies at the Luzerne Music Center. 7:30pm. $15; $7 students; FREE children under age 12.

THEATER: Next Act! New Play Summit 4 @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. It’s “Sleepy Hollow,” Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill’s spooky and very funny adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic tale of the headless horseman. 7:30pm. $10 & $11; $9 & $5.

MUSIC/FILM: Hey Jude @ the Madison Theater, Albany. A screening of the Beatles’ classic film, “A Hard Day’s Night” followed by the Local 518 tribute band. 7pm. $15.

FILM/PERFORMANCE: “Mt. Rush” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Elizabeth Orr’s work-in-progress film/performance tracks the day-to-day activities of a Mount Rushmore park ranger attempting to navigate an onslaught of fundraising emails in the lead up to the presidential election. Presenting a fantastical, near-future narrative that combines animation and live-action, the performance mines the dark comedy behind the politics of emergency so pervasive in today’s systems of governance. 9pm.

MUSIC: Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe @ Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. Fresh off the Rolling Stones Zip Code Tour, which played 15 stadiums across the United States this summer, Denson and his band play Prince’s classic Dirty Mind. 9pm. $30.

READING/PERFORMANCE: Andrea Gibson @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The first winner of the Women’s World Poetry Slam has brought her pointedly political spoken-word poetry to prestigious performance venues coast to coast with powerful readings on war, class, gender, bullying, white privilege, sexuality, love, and spirituality. 9pm. $20.
