The Palace Theatre Announces New Concert
Hailing from the land of “The Lord of the Rings” movies and sharing DNA with Flight of the
Conchords, the slightly off-center New Zealand-based band the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra is slated to make their Greater Nippertown concert debut at Albany’s Palace Theatre at 3pm on Sunday, March 6.
The concert will feature charming humor, disarmingly small musical instruments, sublime musicality, heavenly multi-part vocal harmonies, flamboyant outfits, delightful theatrical effects and convivial crowd participation.
Expect to hear a diverse repertoire of uke-ified songs culled from the songbags of Justin Timberlake, Dolly Parton, Salt n Pepa and the vintage Broadway musical “South Pacific.” The band’s only rule is, “If you know the words, sing along. If you don’t know the words, sing along!”
Priced at $17.50, $27.50 & $37.50; $15 for children & students, tickets are slated to go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (October 30).
