MUSIC: Dave Davies @ The Egg’s Swyer Theatre, Albany. The lead guitarist of the Kinks is one of the most unpredictable and original forces in rock, without whom guitar-rock styles including heavy metal and punk would have been inconceivable. In addition to his albums with the Kinks, he’s released numerous solo albums with his own band, including his latest, Rippin’ Up Time. 8pm. $59.50.

MUSIC: Joe Jackson @ The Egg’s Hart Theatre, Albany. These career-spanning shows – including selections from his new album Fast Forward – will feature Jackson as his own opening act, playing a short solo piano set before bringing out his full band which includes Graham Maby on bass, guitarist Teddy Kumpel and drummer Doug Yowell. 8pm. $39.50, $49.50 & $59.50.

READING: Joyce Carol Oates @ Bard College’s Olin Concert Hall, Annandale-On-Hudson. The acclaimed author and recipient of the National Humanities Medal and National Book Award will read from “ Walking Wounded,” a new, unpublished story commissioned especially for its world premiere at this event. 3pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Iration @ the Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Albany. The California alt-reggae band rolls into town in support of their new album Hotting Up. 9pm. $15.

FILM: “Citizen Kane” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Orson Welles’ masterfull 1941 directorial debut is generally regarded as the best American film of all time. See it on the big screen and see why. 2:30pm, 5pm & 7:30pm. $5.
