10/7/15: Today’s Top Tips: Wednesday
MUSIC: Nick Lowe @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Whether you prefer The Jesus of Cool or Pure Pop for Now People, there’s no denying the fine British craftsmanship of his songs. He drops into Hudson tonight for a solo show prior to going back out on the road with Los Straitjackets for another holiday tour in December. With Nashville-based folk-roots-pop singer-songwriter Josh Rouse. 8pm. $45 & $65.
MUSIC: Shania Twain @ Times Union Center, Albany. “Damn, I feel like a woman…” The pre-Taylor Swift country-pop crossover queen originally announced that the Rock This Country Tour would be her farewell, but now she seems to be hedging her bets. With Gavin DeGraw. 7:30pm. $46, $66, $86 & $136. UPDATE: This concert has been cancelled due to illness. GO HERE for more info…
MUSIC: The Wood Brothers @ the Academy of Music, Northampton. If you missed ’em at the Upstate Concert Hall last weekend, well, now you get another chance to catch ’em live. In support of their brand new album, Paradise, recorded at Dan Auerbach’s East Eye Sound Studios. With Gill Landry. 7:30pm. $25 & $35.
THEATER: “4000 Miles” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Amy Herzog’s Obie Award-winning odd couple dramatic comedy kicks off the 2015-16 season at Cap Rep. He’s a millennial, 21, a ball of energy and contradictions still taking shape with every word he utters. She’s his grandmother, a Greenwich Village lefty, 70 years his senior, and cut from even older cloth, wise enough to know when to hold her tongue. Directed by Stephen Nachamie. 2 & 7:30pm. $20-$50.
