MUSIC: “Albany Homicide Tales and Murder Ballads” @ Albany Public Library, Albany. Local 518 singer-songwriters Michael Eck, Henry’s Rifle, Zan Strumfeld, Kate McDonnell, Ryan Stewart, Matt Durfee, Tom McWatters, Peter Lavery and Steve Pastoriza perform original murder ballads they’ve written about real-life murder tales that occurred in Albany in the late 1800s and early 1900s. 7pm. MUSIC: Jared Paul @ the Hudson River Coffee House, Albany. The acclaimed poet, journalist, activist, educator and spoken word artist celebrates the release of his debut hip-hop album, Get My Ghost. With Aquifer, Amani Olugbala and Nine Votes Short. 8pm.

THEATER: “4000 Miles” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Amy Herzog’s Obie Award-winning odd couple dramatic comedy kicks off the 2015-16 season at Cap Rep. He’s a millennial, 21, a ball of energy and contradictions still taking shape with every word he utters. She’s his grandmother, a Greenwich Village lefty, 70 years his senior, and cut from even older cloth, wise enough to know when to hold her tongue. Directed by Stephen Nachamie. 7:30pm. $20-$50.
ARTIST TALK: Virginia Durruty @ Opalka Gallery, Albany. The Boston-based architect and art exhibition designer talks about the Opalka current exhibition “From Concept to Console: Art and Aesthetics in Video Game Design,” which she designed. 6:30pm.
