Win FREE Tickets to Wynton Marsalis & Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra @ Proctors on Tuesday
Britain’s Daily Telegraph calls them simply “the finest big band in the world today.”
Under the leadership of trumpet master, nine-time Grammy Award winner and musical director Wynton Marsalis, the 15-piece Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra swings into Proctors in Schenectady at 7:30pm on Tuesday (October 6).
The band rumbles into town in support of their new 2-CD set Live in Cuba, recorded in front of a sold-out crowd at Havana’s Mella Theatre in October, 2010, capturing the undeniable connections between American jazz and Afro-Cuban music.
The big band also draws from an extensive repertoire that includes original compositions by Marsalis, saxman Ted Nash and other members of the orchestra, as well as the time-honored masterworks of Ellington, Mingus, Coltrane and other great jazz composers.
As the Duke once proclaimed, “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing,” and you cab bet that JALCO will be solidly swingin’ at Proctors on Tuesday.
Tickets are on sale now, priced from $20-$75.
