Contemporary country music ruled the roost at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer, and that included last month’s headlining concert by Brantley Gilbert, who brought along Lee Brice and Cam to round out the show.

Excerpt from Kirsten Ferguson’s review at The Daily Gazette: “The sound of an engine revving over a skittish drum beat announced the arrival on stage of country singer Brantley Gilbert and his band at SPAC on Sunday night, while a video screen flashed images of tattoos, weapons and a souped-up motorcycle. Mainstream country music has plenty of artists pushing the boundaries of the genre these days, including popular acts like Florida Georgia Line that incorporate the rap cadences of hip-hop, the dub beats of electronic dance music and the electric guitar sounds of rock music. At SPAC, the 30-year-old Gilbert crossed over into hard rock and heavy metal so much that any elements of country music were often indistinguishable in the music, aside from the standard bro-country lyrics worshiping small towns, jacked-up trucks and all-night parties.”
