Nominees for the 2015 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards were announced on Wednesday (August 12) at a press conference in Nashville, where Balsam Range, Hot Rize, the Del McCoury Band, the Earls of Leicester and the Local 518’s own Gibson Brothers were nominated for the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award.
In addition, Eric & Leigh Gibson and the rest of the band were also nominated for Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year (for Brotherhood, their debut album for Rounder Records), Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year (for “What a Wonderful Savior Is He” from Brotherhood) and Mandolinist of the Year (for bandmember Jesse Brock).
In addition to being multiple nominees, the Gibson Brothers – who were previously honored as IBMA Entertainers of the Year in 2012 and 2013 – will also serve as hosts of the awards show, slated to take place on Thursday, October 1 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Meanwhile, it was also announced that banjo pioneer and Woodstock resident Bill Keith – a former member of Bill Monroe & the Bluegrass Boys, the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Muleskinner – will be inducted into the IBMA Hall of Fame.
