COMIN’ SOON: This Week’s New Concert Announcements
A handful of new concerts have been announced for the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park, including the return of John Valby (aka Doctor Dirty) at 9pm on Friday, November 13 ($13 in advance; $15 at the door); Blessthefall headlining the To Those Left Behind Tour with Stick to Your Guns, Oceans Ate Alaska and Cane Hill at 6:25pm on Tuesday, November 3 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); and Modern Baseball at 6pm on Sunday, December 6 with Tiny Moving Parts, Pup and Jeff Rosenstock ($15; on sale at 12noon on Friday).
British psych-folk icon Michael Chapman and the young, like-minded Chicago guitar master Ryley Walker team up for a double bill at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton at 7pm on Wednesday, October 14. Tickets are $12 in advance; $14 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg in Albany announced three more new concerts this week – Peter Wolf & the Midnight Travelers, Joshua Radin and the all-star jazz trio of Danilo Perez, John Patitucci & Brian Blade. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Tuesday (August 18).
Albany’s Madison Theater has bolstered its live-music schedule with the addition of new concerts by Elvis tribute artist James Cawley at 8pm on Saturday, September 19 ($20); Ryan Montbleau at 8:30pm on Saturday, October 3 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); and veteran acoustic pop singer-songwriter Jonathan Edwards at 7pm on Friday, October 9 ($20).
CANCELLED: The Full Tilt Boogie Festival was slated to rock the Green Mountain Racetrack in Pownal, Vermont on Saturday, August 22 with a powerhouse line-up that included ZZ Top, Gary Clark Jr., Buddy Guy, Blackberry Smoke, the Marshall Tucker Band, Trigger Hippy (featuring Joan Osborne & Jackie Greene), the Wood Brothers, Albert Lee with Cindy Cashdollar, Girls Guns & Glory and lots more. Unfortunately, the festival has been cancelled due to “safety concerns.” Refunds are available at the place of purchase…
Led Zeppelin tribute band Get the Led Out takes over the stage at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm on Saturday, January 8. Priced at $27.50 & $37.50, tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (August 14).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Indigo Girls are headed into the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in support of their new album, One Lost Day. A Fragile Tomorrow opens the show. Tickets go on on sale at 10am on Friday (August 14).

New concerts on the fall calendar for the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington include comedian Rita Rudner in a benefit performance for the Fairview Hospital at 8pm on Saturday, September 26 ($53), and John Pizzarelli’s Frank Sinatra Centennial Celebration at 8pm on Saturday, December 19 ($25, $60 & $80; VIP $100 includes a post-show reception with the artist).
Superhuman Happiness grabs the spotlight at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, October 10 ($10 in advance; $15 at the door). Also at the Hollow, Project Object pays tribute to the music of Frank Zappa at 9pm on Thursday, October 15 aided and abetted by Mothers of Invention alum Ike Willis and Denny Walley ($15 in advance; $20 at the door).

The Valatie Community Theater is hosting a pair of upcoming concerts by some Local 518 faves – Ramblin Jug Stompers at 8pm on Saturday, August 22 ($10) and Sean Rowe at 8pm on Saturday, September 26 ($20).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Shinedown teams up with Breaking Benjamin and Sevendust for a headbangin’ triple bill at Albany’s Times Union Center. NOTE: The general public on-sale has been pushed back to 10am on Saturday (August 15).
Buffalo Stack is slated for a return to Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Friday, September 25 ($TBA). And Heather MacRae will step into the spotlight at 7pm on Sunday, October 11 ($TBA), as part of the Helsinki on Broadway cabaret series.
Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock has announced a few new shows, including “Oh To Be Home Again” with Amy Helm & Friends at 8pm on Saturday, August 29 ($45 & $65); Donna the Buffalo at 8pm on Friday, September 4 ($25 & $35); the Weight at 8pm on Saturday, September 5 ($45 & $65); and Maria Muldaur’s “Way Past Midnight” multimedia career retrospective at 8pm on Friday, October 9 ($45 & $65).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comedian Kevin James – the Emmy nominated star of the TV sitcom “King of Queens,” as well as such classic films as “Grown Ups 2″ and “Mall Cop 2″ – brings his new stand-up comedy show to the Palace Theatre in downtown Albany. Tickets go on sale on Friday (August 14).
OPENERS: Mad Satta have been tapped as the openers for the Big Takeover at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Saturday, August 22… Gun Play and Hypno Carlito will open for Lil Durk at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Sunday, August 30… At the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany, Downtown Brown have been added as the opening act for Fishbone on Wednesday, September 16, while Space Carnival opens for the McLovins on Wednesday, September 23.
