Yes, it was one of the busiest musical weekends of the summer so far, featuring an embarrassment of festival options, including the Old Songs Festival, Solid Sound, Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival and the Harley Rendezvous Classic. But there’s always room for another one, and the Beacon Riverfest is always a worthwhile day in the summer sun.
Taking place from 12noon-8pm on Sunday, June 28 in Pete & Toshi Seeger Riverfront Park in Beacon, the fifth annual one-day fest featured three stages of musical entertainment, more than a dozen bands and an expanded offering of great food.
Headlined by the almighty groove of the internationally acclaimed Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars, the fest also featured some of the Hudson Valley’s finest homegrown musical talent, including such faves as Shana Falana, Tracy Bonham, Simi Stone, Breakfast in Fur, the M Shanghai String Band and lots more. All that for just $15, making for a particularly high value-for-money ratio.
