MUSIC: Dust Bowl Faeries @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Ryder Cooley & Hazel’s electro-acoustic, gothic-folk ensemble also features Sara Ayers and Karen Cole with new members Jen DuBois and JoAnn Stevelos, as they fuse together other-worldy, girl-group harmonies with unique instrumentation – including accordion, musical saw, ukulele, lap-steel guitar, keyboards and percussion. THEATER: “Jupiter (A Play About Power)” @ the Bridge Street Theatre, Catskill. Superhero Clubhouse, currently artists-in-residence at Catwalk Institute in Catskill present a work-in-progress performance of their new, multi-disciplinary work exploring issues of energy policy in the face of climate change. MUSIC: NEXUS @ Maverick Concerts, Woodstock. The oldest continuous professional summer chamber music festival in America opens its 100th season with a concert by the masterful percussion ensemble, featuring the premiere of Peter Schickele’s Percussion Sonata No. 3, “Maverick,” as well as ragtime tunes for xylophone by George Hamilton Green and Russell Hartenberger’s “Sky Ghost” (with special guest performers Amy Fradon and Kirsti Gholson) and “Persian Songs.” 8pm. ALSO: NEXUS and Sepideh Raissadat will be giving a free concert for young people at 11am.
