LIVE: Dad Fest @ Corning Preserve Boat Launch, 6/21/15

Unfortunately, Dad Fest – the City of Albany’s new Fathers Day rock fest – was shuffled off to the rain site at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch, an under-the-hihway parking lot that’s better suited to staging the rumble scene from “West Side Story” than it is for a concert.
But the location didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of dads and other fans who celebrated the day digging the sounds of hard-folk duo the WonderBeards, ’70s-inspired power trio Super 400 and a double-dose of Rennselaer native and guitarslinger extraordinaire Eddie Angel, who not only helmed Eddie Angel’s Guitar Party (decked out in his Los Straitjackets’ Mexican wrestling mask) but also teamed up with Nippertown rockabilly legend Johnny Rabb to lead the primal, garage-rockin’ Neanderthals sporting their furry Flintstones fashions and bone-shaped guitars.
Sound like fun? You bet it was…
NOTE: The Neanderthals will be tripping back in time for some more stone-age rockin’ at 6:30pm tonight (Thursday, June 25) at the Tiki Resort in Lake George, as they play the kick-off bash for the annual, weekend-long Ohana: Luau On the Lake festival.
