COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements
In support of their upcoming Sub Pop album, Depression Cherry, Beach House – the Baltimore-based duo of Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally – steps into the spotlight at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 8pm on Monday, August 24. Tickets are $24 in advance; $27 at the door and will go on sale at 10am on Friday (May 29). Also at UCH, State Champs take the stage at 7pm on Saturday, July 18. Joining them will be Hit the Lights, Tiny Moving Parts, Let It Happen and Northbound. Tickets are on sale now priced at $15 in advance; $17 at the door. San Antonio’s Nothing More rattles the rafters of UCH at 8pm on Saturday, August 8. Tickets are $10.35 in advance; $12 at the door. And New Found Glory teams up with Yellowcard for a co-headlining tour that’s slated to make a stop at UCH at 7:30pm on Tuesday, October 27. Tiger Jaw opens the show. Priced at $23.50 in advance; $27 at the door, tickets go on sale at 12noon on Friday (May 29).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The magnificent slide guitarist Ry Cooder is teaming up with mandolin master Ricky Skaggs and his wife, vocalist Sharon White, for a concert at The Egg in Albany. Tickets go on sale on Friday (May 29).
We’re wondering if the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock has attracted the eyes of a hot new promoter because they’ve raised the bar with their bookings during the past couple of weeks. New shows announced this week include the maverick Amanda Palmer & Friends with PWR BTTM and Lady Moon & the Eclipse at 9pm on Monday, July 6 ($25, on sale at 10am Friday); the New Pornographers with Thao & the Get Down Stay Down at 8pm on Thursday, July 9 ($35, on sale at 12noon Friday); and fab ska vets the Slackers with Los Thujones at 9pm on Friday, July 31 ($20).

Club Helsinki in Hudson has added a pair of new cabaret shows to its Helsinki on Broadway series. Tony Award winner Linda Lavin steps into the spotlight at 7pm on Sunday, August 9 ($65), followed by the return of Charles Busch at 8pm on Sunday, September 6 ($60).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain is slated to make their Nippertown debut in concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (May 29).
OPENERS: The Holly & Evan Band will be the opening act for Graham Alexander at WAMC-FM’s The Linda on Saturday, June 6… Americana/bluegrass band the Packway Handle Band has been tapped as the opening act for the Kid Rock/Foreigner tour, which is making a stop at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Thursday, July 2… John Society has been added to the bill as the opening act for Langhorne Slim & the Law at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Monday, July 13.
SOLD OUT: Shawn Mendes’ concert at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Friday night (May 29) is now officially sold out, and no tickets will be available at the door, according to the promoters.
