“THE VOICE” UPDATE: Sawyer Fredericks Moves On
Well, that didn’t take long…
Sawyer Fredericks – Fultonville’s fave fair-haired farmboy – was the first contestant announced to move on to the semi-final next round in Tuesday night’s (May 5) episode of the NBC-TV singing competition, “The Voice.”
And that was despite the fact that the first song that he sang on Monday night was “Shine On,” a largely unknown Americana song penned by May Erlewine, who is a part of the Michigan-based Earthwork Music Collective, which ironically enough lists fellow “Voice” competitor Joshua Davis as a member.
Today (Wednesday, May 6) is homecoming day for Fredericks. Beginning at 3pm, he’ll be honored with a parade through the towns of Glen, Fultonville and Fonda in Montgomery County, culminating with a rally at the Fonda Speedway. And at 8pm, Fredericks will offer a free concert at Albany’s Palace Theatre with Eastbound Jesus. Doors open at 6:30pm.
