LIVE: Citizen Cope @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, 4/1/15

When Citizen Cope brought his solo acoustic show to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall earlier this month, we had no idea that it was just the beginning of several concerts that he’s be performing around Greater Nippertown.

But since his Music Hall performance, it’s been announced that he would also be playing with his band at the Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival in Croton Point on Saturday, June 20, in addition to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center with Counting Crows and Hollis Brown on Tuesday, September 1.

But, of course, those shows won’t be anything like the warm, soulful performance at the intimate and acoustically spakling Troy Savings Bank Music Hall…

I couldn’t make this show. Anyone know if it was well attended? I thought that maybe this was too large a venue for CP.

OswegoMatt, hi, yes it was well attended. There were empty seats on the sides and the rows of the first level. Most side balcony boxes were filled and the rear balcony had a healthy amount of people so it didn’t appear “empty.” It was not a sell out of the TSBMH’s 980 sears, but my guess was that somewhere near 700 patrons were were there. Cope put on an intense show and bantered on several occasions with voices in the audience including a woman who proclaimed between songs that she “loved him” followed quickly by a male voice saying, “Hey, I love him too!” With the audience erupting with laughter and Cope himself cracking a grin at the fanfare. Great show overall.
