TALK: The Secret History of “the little match girl passion” @ Williams College’s Bernhard Music Center, Williamstown. David Lang – the composer and co-founder of Bang On a Can – discusses the genesis of his Pulitzer Prize-winning composition. 4:15pm. FREE.

READING: Albany Word Fest’s Haiku Battle @ Justin’s, Albany. It’s the return of the Haiku Battle, pitting two poets against each other on stage in a battle of 17 syllables. Participation is limited to the first 16 poets who sign up. 7pm.

MUSIC: PULSE Live! @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. An evening of electronic dance music by student DJs, VJs, producers and designers performing live with all the technological power of EMPAC at their disposal. 8pm. FREE; open to students with ID only.
