COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements
In support of their sophomore album, Gracetown, Australian indie rock-pop band San Cisco are returning to town for a free concert on Saturday, June 27 at Vapor in Saratoga Springs. NYC trio the Prettiots are slated to open the show, which is sponsored by WEQX-FM.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The line-up of bands has been announced for Albany’s free, two-day Tulip Festival in Washington Park, including Oh Honey, British pop-rockers the Kooks, Joywave, Flagship, the Orange, Mirk and more.
Primus and Dinosaur Jr.? Together? Yup, the wild double-bill lands at Mountain Park in Holyoke at 7pm on Tuesday, July 28. Priced at $39.50, tickets go on sale on Friday (April 3).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The sixth annual Roots Music Festival benefit concert at The Linda in Albany announced the line-up of bands with Americana favorites Yarn in the headlining slot. In support of their latest album, Folks Like Us, country music hitmakers Montgomery Gentry roll into the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 8pm on Tuesday, May 19. Local 518 faves the Back 40 Band open the show. On sale at 10am on Friday (April 3), tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door. Meanwhile, Canadian punk rockers Propagandhi roar into the Clifton Park concert venue on Friday, June 19 with RVIVR and War on Women opening the show at 8pm. Priced at $20 in advance; $22 at the door, tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (April 3). And if it’s headbanging that you want, head over to UCH on Saturday, September 19, when Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth leads thrash vets Overkill in a double-bill with Symphony X at 8pm. Priced at $25 in advance; $30 at the door, tickets go on sale at 10am on Wednesday, April 15.
UPDATE: The Solid Sound festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams announced the line-up of bands a month ago, but now they’ve released the day-by-day breakdown of who is playing on which day of the three-day fest. Single-day tickets are also now on sale.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Although Dierks Bentley was previously announced as the headliner, WGNA-FM’s annual CountryFest has now revealed the complete line-up of bands for the day-long bash at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds, including Easton Corbin, Craig Campbell, A Thousand Horses and the Cadillac Trio.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg’s Hart Theatre is hosting “Classic Vinyl Flashback” featuring a pair of tribute bands – Mad Co. and Any Way You Want It. Tickets are on sale now.
CANCELLED: After 23 years of shows, the Belleayre Music Festival at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center in Highmount announced that there will be no 2015 summer season of concerts.
The Texas power trio of brothers Jojo, Henry & Ringo Garza – collectively known as Los Lonely Boys – are headed into the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Thursday, June 25 to fire up their self-described brand of “Texican Rock ‘n’ Roll.” The Contenders open the show at 8pm. Tickets are now on sale, priced at $35 & $55.

The Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik will be making a tour stop at Drury Performing Arts Center at Drury High School in North Adams at 7pm on Friday, April 10. Singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Adam Michael Rothberg opens the show. Advance tickets are on sale now, priced at $20 & $25.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Pop superstar Ariana Grande is slated to make her Nippertown concert debut at Albany’s Times Union Center. Prince Royce opens the show. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Saturday (April 4).
SOLD OUT: The Eastbound Jesus concert at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Saturday (April 4) is now officially sold out.
The Charlie Hunter Trio – also featuring Bobby Previte and Curtis Fowlkes – pulls into Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Thursday, June 11. Tickets are $20.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Taking place at 11 venues throughout Albany next month, the MOVE Music Festival announced the final line-up – a whopping 99 bands, including Young Magic, Locksley, Shinobi Ninja, Mirk, Titanics, Rustic Overtones, Goodbyemotel, Wild Adriatic, Jocelyn Arndt, Sirsy and lots, lots, more.
Cymbals Eat Guitars will come crashing into the Low Beat in Albany at 8pm on Thursday April 30 for a make-up date after their December show was cancelled due to health issues. Tickets are $12 in advance; $14 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The FreshGrass festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams added five new bands to the bill of the three-day fest, including the Del McCoury Band, Houndmouth, Vieux Farka Touré and more.
Lenox singer-songwriter Katherine Winston – who made it to the Top 24 in FOX-TV’s “American Idol” singing competition last season – is slated to perform at the Garage in Pittsfield at 8pm on Saturday, April 18. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: After last weekend’s concert by hip-hop/R&B star K. Michelle was cancelled by the Washington Avenue Armory, Albany’s Palace Theatre has announced that it will host her re-scheduled concert.
In support of his latest album, Grace Through the Wandering, Aaron Gillespie – formerly of the headbangin’ band Underoath and alt-rockers the Almost – brings his Reset Tour 2015 to City Church of Albany at the Best Western Sovereign Hotel at 7pm on Saturday, April 11, with Josh Brewer, Nick Hall and Reid Saunders. Tickets are $15.
CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: 10 Years is out as the opening act for Seether at Clifton Park’s Upstate Concert Hall at 8pm on Sunday, May 3. Now scheduled as openers are Nonpoint and Red Sun Rising.
OPENERS: Los Angeles-based rockers Hey Violet have snagged the coveted opening act slot for the Rock Out With Your Socks Out Summer Tour with teen-pop headliners 5 Seconds of Summer, which lands at SPAC at 7:30pm on Wednesday, August 26. And until 6pm today (Wednesday, April 1), lawn tickets for the show are available for $15… Jay Collins & the Kings County Band has been added as the opening act for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Saturday (April 4).
