NYS Music March Madness – Round One Results; Round Two Voting Now Open
There were plenty of surprise upsets in round one of the inaugural NYS Music March Madness competition, as decided by the online voting that closed at 12midnight on Thursday (March 19). Like the NCAA Basketball Championship brackets, the competition is divided into four sections by genre.
In round one, No. 13 seed the Lucky Jukebox Brigade beat out No. 4 Digital Dharma; No. 3 Sean Rowe was knocked out of the battle by No. 14 Unknown Woodsmen; No. 15 Smackdab smacked down veteran Peter Prince; and hometown headbangers Brick by Brick (No. 14) emerged victorious over No. 3 Snapcase.
And in what may prove to be the Cinderella band of the competition, Local 518 faves Hard Soul (No. 16) outscored No. 1 Every Time I Die to advance to the second round.
Other Nippertown bands moving on to the second round of the competition include Stigmata, Jesus Christ & the Hallucinogenic Allstars, Conehead Buddha, the Felice Brothers, Wild Adriatic, Mister F, the North & South Dakotas, the Blind Owl Band, Eatbound Jesus, Phantogram and Mirk.
Among the other Capital Region bands who are headed home after being knocked out in the first round were Titanics, Shana Falana, Blotto, Northern Faces, Stockade Kids, the Ameros, Black MMountain Symphony, the Sea the Sea, Lucid, Formula 5, Capital Zen, Skinless and State Champs.
