COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements
Americana singer-songwriter Willie Watson – a founding member of the Old Crow Medicine Show – is slated to make his Albany solo debut at the Madison Theatre at 8pm on Sunday, April 12. He’s currently touring in support of his recently released debut album Folk Singer Vol. 1, produced by David Rawlings. Advance tickets are currently available for $15.
The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock has added a couple of impressive new shows to its concert calendar including Joan Osborne with opener Lauren Shera at 9pm on Friday, April 3 ($30-$65), and musical iconoclast Michael Hurley and Elizabeth Mitchell & Dan Littleton with Paul McMahon opening at 8pm on Sunday, April 19 ($15).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Freihoffer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center has announced the full line-up of performers, including Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Cassandra Wilson, Al Di Meola Electric Band, Christian McBride Big Band, Pedrito Martinez Group, Monty Alexander’s Harlem-Kingston Express, Theo Croker, Erykah Badu, Snarky Puppy, Sheila E., Ronnie Earl & the Broadcasters, Head of State Ensemble, Django Festival Allstars, Etienne Charles and lots more.
WAMC-FM’s The Linda in Albany has bolstered its concert calendar with a handful of new additions, including a CD release party for Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem at 8pm on Friday, May 15 ($17); the return of veteran singer-songwriter Willie Nile at 8pm pm Saturday, May 16 with Jefferson Grizzard opening ($20); and Garland Jeffreys & Band at 8pm on Saturday, June 27 ($18).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy has announced its spring schedule of events, including upcoming concerts by the Nile Project, Tal National, Noura Mint Seymali and the Daniel Kelly Trio.
Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs rounds out the month of March with a bushel-full of great shows including the international double bill of Snowapple and Fish & Bird at 8pm on Friday (March 13); women’s music pioneer Chris Williamson at 2pm on Sunday (March 15) followed by the sublime John Gorka at 7pm the same night; bluesman Scott Ainsile’s CD release party at 8pm on Friday, March 20; Ellis Paul at 7pm on Saturday, March 21 (with a free children’s show at 3pm the same day); Zen cowboy singer-songwriter Chuck Pyle at 8pm on Friday, March 27; the David Mayfield Parade at 7pm on Sunday, March 29; and the return of the fabulous Steel Wheels at 7pm on Monday, March 30.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival has announced the first round of performers for this summer’s 2015 fest at Croton Point Park, and it’s a doozie – including the Mavericks, Shelby Lynne, Neko Case, Bettye LaVette, Guster, Ani DiFranco, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Angélique Kidjo, the Felice Brothers, the Lone Bellow, Todd Snider, Toshi Reagon & Big Lovely, Joseph Arthur, the Klezmatics, Tom Paxton and lots more.
In Hudson, Club Helsinki welcomes the husband-and wife duo of John Pizzarelli & Jessica Molaskey at 9pm on Saturday, May 9 ($TBA).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: New concerts Rufus Wainwright and Dan Zanes have been announced for the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington.
The Catskill-based jazz record label Planet Arts is presenting three shows in its Jazz one2one spring concert series. At the Beattie-Powers Place in Catskill pianist Bruce Barth teams up with bassist Sean Smith for a duo concert at 5pm on March 28 and the Rhys Tivey Trio takes over at 8pm on May 23. Tickets for each show are $10. Rounding out the series, vibraphonist Joe Locke joins drummer Jaimeo Brown and bassist Rickey Rodriguez at 8pm on April 25 at the Central House Hotel Inn in Germantown. Tickets are $25.
OPENERS: Jolie Holland – a founding member of the Be Good Tanyas – has been announced as the opening act for Gregory Allan Isakov at The Egg at 8pm on Friday, April 10.
UPDATE: The ticket prices for the previously announced Nellie McKay concert at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Sunday, April 5 have been revealed – $25 in advance; $30 at the door.
