Terrance Simien, What Was the First Album You Ever Bought?
“I’m going to have to think hard on that. You know what? I think the first album that I ever bought was by Chuck Mangione. I think that was it.
“I had older brothers and sisters, so I didn’t really have to buy anything. I got a lot of records handed down to me, and the music that they liked, I was just following their lead.
“But I think Chuck Mangione was the first. At ten years old, I was playing the trumpet, and that was when he had his big hit song, ‘Feels So Good.’ I thought, ‘Man, that’s a great song. I’d better check it out and see what else is on that album.’ And everything else was just awesome.”
