The Linda Announces Three New Concerts
WAMC-FM’s The Linda in Albany has announced three new concerts for the spring 2015 season. Here are the details:
With J.D. Wilkes
SUNDAY MARCH 8, 8pm
Many people play roots music, but few modern musicians live those roots like Minnesota’s Charlie Parr. Recording since the earliest days of the 21st century, Parr’s heart-felt and plaintive original folk blues and traditional spirituals don’t strive for authenticity: They are authentic.
SATURDAY APRIL 18, 8pm
Singer-songwriter and Grammy-nominee Seth Glier knows the challenges of emerging into adulthood all too well. Over the course of just a few short years, Glier has gone from
opening act to headlining his own shows as well as major folk festivals, all culminating in a nod from the Grammys.
THE APRIL VERCH BAND
FRIDAY APRIL 24, 8pm
April Verch has never sounded more comfortable in her skin than she does now, in the second decade of her career as an internationally touring Canadian fiddler, step dancer and singer-songwriter. Her ninth album, Bright Like Gold, captures a woman who’s fleshed out her identity and is in full command of her gifts, a woman who’s grown from a prodigy into an enduring artist – one of music’s most unforgiving public transitions – with grace and grit to spare.
