MUSIC: Mountain Snow & Mistletoe @ The Egg, Albany. The annual down-home concert of holiday songs and stories led by Christopher Shaw and Bridget Ball accompanied by the Mountain Snow Orchestra featuring fiddler John Kirk, guitarist Kevin McKrell and percussionist Brian Melick. 7:30pm. $24. MUSIC: Jaimeo Brown Transcendence @ Sanctuary for Independent Media, Troy. Renowned drummer-composer Jaimeo Brown’s haunting debut as a leader, Transcendence, brilliantly taps the root soul connections between African-American spirituals, transcendental East Indian music, Coltrane-esque improvisation and 21st century electronic music. MUSIC: Chris Pasin’s Random Acts of Kindness @ the Bridge Street Theatre, Catskill. New compositions by trumpeter/composer Chris Pasin, inspired by artists such as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman and Alban Berg, will serve as a vehicle for freely interactive improvisation of the band that also features guitarist Mark Kleinhaut, keyboardist Wayne Hawkins, bassist John Menegon and drummer Dave Berger. 8pm. $10.

MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: “Rockin’ Christmas 2014” @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Pop songwriter-pianist Whitney Wolanin & Her Shenanigans get you into the spirited, sing-along, party mood of the holiday season. Proceeds benefit the Rockin’ Christmas Fund at Siena College. 8pm. $27, $37, $47 & $57.

THEATER: “Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up” @ MASS MoCA’s Club B-10, North Adams. Academy Award-nominated Lucy Alibar, whose stage play was adapted into the award-winning film “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” workshops her latest play, wrapping up a two-week residency with the Sundance Theatre Lab at MASS MoCA. 8pm. $16; $5 students.

PERFORMANCE: “A Possibility of an Abstraction” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Germaine Kruip’s production transforms the theater into a field of cinematic experience. PERFORMANCE: “Bloopers #1” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. The newest performance-driven collaboration by artists Michael Bell-Smith, Sara Magenheimer and Ben Vida uses the language of “breakdowns,” or comedic outtakes, as the artists blend props, video and electronic music to play with the social power of different kinds of media. 9pm. $18; $13 students & seniors.

THEATER: “The Secret Garden” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved book comes to life in the Tony Award-winning musical about an orphan girl who transforms a dead and wasted garden into a paradise where hearts can grow and miracles can happen. MUSIC: Simi Stone @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The Woodstock singer-songwriter plays violin, guitar and percussion, boasts a huge, versatile voice, and commands the stage like a latter-day Tina Turner. She’ll be joined by drummer Zack Alford (Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Vernon Reid), bassist Sara Lee (Gang of Four, B-52s, Ani DiFranco) and guitarist Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie, Tears for Fears, Gang of Four), as well as keyboardist David Baron. 9pm. $15.
