MUSIC: Kitka @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. The California-based, eight-voice women’s vocal ensemble explores a vast palette of ancient yet contemporary-sounding vocal effects inspired by the ethereal sounds of traditional Eastern European musics. 7:30pm. $15, $20 & $25.
PARTICIPATORY MUSIC: Phil Kline’s “Unsilent Night” @ MASS MoCA’s parking lot, North Adams. A free outdoor participatory sonic art parade played through a roving swarm of music-playing devices. Bring a boombox or other music-amplifying device to participate in the 40-minute sound walk. For it’s first North Adams performance, meet at MASS MoCA’s parking lot at 5:15pm. The walk will conclude at MCLA’s Gallery 51. FREE.
MUSIC: BlackHawk @ the Colonial Theatre, Pittsfield. Led by guitarist-vocalist Henry Paul and keyboardist-vocalist Dave Robbins, the veteran country-rock band rides into town in support of their album, Brothers of the Southland, released in July. With fellow country rock vets the Outlaws. 8pm. $39, $59 & $79.
THEATER: “The Secret Garden” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved book comes to life in the Tony Award-winning musical about an orphan girl who transforms a dead and wasted garden into a paradise where hearts can grow and miracles can happen. Directed by Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill. 7:30pm. $20-$55. Through Sunday, December 21.
MUSIC: Winter Songwriters Round Tour @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Singer-songwriters Hannah Holbrook (of SHEL), Ayo Awosika and the duo, the Arrow & the Bow (Hillary Reynolds and Hannah Christianson) team up for an intimate, in-the-round performance. 8pm. $15.

MUSIC: The Williams Jazz Repertory Ensemble @ Williams College’s Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, Williamstown. Led by Kris Allen, the ensemble will perform modern and classic Afro-Cuban jazz by Dizzy Gillespie, Mario Bauza, Rebecca Mauleon and others. 7pm. FREE.
FILM: “Pay 2 Play: Democracy’s High Stakes” @ The Linda, Albany. Filmmaker John Ennis examines the Pay 2 Play System, where politicians reward their donors with even larger sums from the public treasury – through contracts, tax cuts and deregulation. Followed by a panel discussion. 7pm. FREE.
