It’s Funsgiving Time Once Again!
Seven years ago a group of friends and musicians called themselves B3nson and held a small gathering on the first floor of their favorite local music hall and beer joint. Each year since then the celebration of music, fun, giving thanks, and facial hair has grown.
This year for the first time the annual Funsgiving celebration will take over two area nightclub stages on Friday night (November 21) when the B3nson Family invades the Low Beat and Pauly’s Hotel on Central Avenue in Albany. Beginning at 7pm, $10 at the door will get you admission to both venues all night long, where seven bands will be spread across the two stages. Playing at the adjacent venues on an alternating schedule throughout the night – Rival Galaxies, the Parlor, Bear Grass, Hammer Hawk, Secret Release, Neighborhood of Make Believe and Leaks/Mirrors.
In addition to the Funsgiving bash, Friday night’s party will also serve as a celebration for several new B3nson releases. The Parlor unveils their six-song EP Ghost House, which was previously available exclusively to those who donated to the Parlor’s crowd-funding campaign in support of their full-length album, Wahzu Wahzu, released in July. Meanwhile, Hammer Hawk celebrates the release of their three-song EP, I Am Not in Fear of Anything And finally, the Boston Celtics are digitally releasing a 2012, previously unreleased, 14-track album Sunsetting.
In addition to all the music, the yearly exhibition and friendly competition of illustrious facial hair will once again take place, so bring your beard, groom your goatee and twirl your dastardly mustache.
