COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements


As we announced last month, Nick Lowe is returning to The Egg for a very special holiday show. And, of course, that’s reason enough to celebrate. But now it’s been revealed that Los Straitjackets will be Lowe’s backing band. And Ian McLagan will serve as the opening act. Yowza! This is gonna be be one seriously rollicking Christmas party…

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Linkin Park is slated to roar into downtown Albany’s Times Union Center on their Hunting Party Tour with Rise Against and Of Mice & Men in the support slots. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (November 7).

Up in Clifton Park, the Upstate Concert Hall has announced a few new shows. Innovative power-pounders Silverstein headlines on Thursday, February 26, with My Iron Lung, Major League, Hands Like Houses and Beartooth launching the evening’s festivities at 6:30pm. Tickets are on sale now priced at $18 in advance; $20 at the door. And the multi-cultural brother band Kongos returns to Nippertown to headline at UCH on Monday, February 23, with Sir Sly and Colony House opening the show at 8pm. Priced at $20 in advance, tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (November 7).

The Egg hosted the deluxe version of the Johnny Winter Remembrance Concert last weekend, and now the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock has announced that it will host a slightly scaled down version of the show at 7:30pm on Saturday, November 22. The Bearsville evening will feature a screening of the feature documentary film, “Johnny Winter: Down & Dirty,” followed by a concert featuring the Johnny Winter Band with vocalist Jay Stollman and guest guitarist Ronnie Baker Brooks. Tickets are $35-$55.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Pioneering comedian Bill Cosby is returning to the Palace Theatre in Albany for another night of stand-up comedy. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Saturday (November 8).

The Linda in Albany will play host to a special holiday concert featuring two of Nippertown’s finest acoustic singer-songwriters Jim Gaudet and Sara Milonovich, as well as members of their respective bands, the Railroad Boys and Daisycutter. Yes, it’s “A Blue (Grassy) Christmas” at 8pm on Friday, December 5, and tickets are $15.

IN CASE YOU MISSED: The Egg in Albany has added two new solo acoustic concerts to its spring calendar – Joan Armatrading and Bruce Cockburn. Tickets for both new shows go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (November 7).

Club Helsinki in Hudson is hosting the Winter Songwriters Round Tour featuring Hannah Holbrook, Ayo Awosika, Hannah Christianson and Hillary Reynolds at 8pm on Thursday, December 4. Tickets are $15. Other new shows on the Helsinki calendar include the return of multi-talented Simi Stone at 9pm on Saturday, December 6 ($15), and the annual Elvis Birthday Bash featuring the Lustre Kings & Friends at 9pm on Saturday, January 10 ($TBA).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: There’s still more comedy coming to Albany’s Palace Theatre when the cigar-chompin’, scotch swillin’ Ron “Tater Salad” White steps into the spotlight.

Last month we announced that Happy Traum & Friends would be returning to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 8pm on Saturday, December 13 for their annual Winter Solstice concert to benefit the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild. Now the Guild has announced who some of those friends will be: John Sebastian, Amy Helm, Paul Rishell & Annie Raines, Mike + Ruthy, Byron Isaacs. Tickets are now available for $25, $45 & $65.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Korn will soon be rattling the rafters at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany as the headliners for Q-103’s Christmas Chaos Concert. Tickets are on sale now.

SOLD OUT: If you haven’t purchased your tickets for the concert by ’70s soft-rockers America at The Egg in Albany on Saturday, November 29, well, it looks like you might be out of luck. That concert is now officially sold out.
