Festival Fever: LODGE: A Weekend Retreat of Music & Art, 10/17&18/14
Today & Saturday (October 17 & 18), WGXC 90.7-FM presents LODGE, a fundraiser weekend of music and art at Riedlbauer’s Resort in Round Top. Local musicians, artists and WGXC DJs gather in the Catskills to offer a unique weekend retreat at Nussy’s Biergarten, an outdoor pavilion situated on the tranquil grounds of Riedlbauer’s Resort.
It all kicks off at 7pm tonight (Friday, October 17) WGXC DJs Tim Livingston (frontman The Last Conspirators and host of WGXC’s “Radio Warfare”) and Spike Priggen (host of WGXC’s “Bedazzled Radio Hour”) spinning vinyl punk, power-pop and garage-rock. Then from 10pm-12midnight, DJ Effie (of In the Cut) takes over the turntables to fuel a big dance party. Friday admission is free.
The live DJ party continues on Saturday with WGXC DJs Chris Bishop, Spike Priggen, Tim Livingston and Lunar Moss spinning from 2-7pm. In addition there will be food and drink and silent auctions throughout the afternoon. Admission is free.
Then at 7pm on Saturday, a batch of outstanding regional independent bands take the stage to wrap up the weekend’s festivities. Bands include Kingston’s Bishop Allen (in support of their new album Lights Out), Hudson’s fuzzed-out noise-rockers Palm, the grungy guitar-and-drums duo Dirty River and post-rock instrumentalists Slow Collins (led by guitarist-composer Alexander Turnquist and John Rosenthal). DJ Lunar Moss will be spinning between sets. Admission to the Saturday evening session is $15 in advance; $20 at the door).
