Win FREE Tickets to Mike Barnett & Jake Jolliff @ the Ale House on Wednesday
Fab fiddler Mike Barnett teams up with mandolin master Jake Jolliff for an evening of exciting, adventurous acoustic music at the Ale House in Troy on Wednesday (October 8). And while they may not be household names, they’ve collaborated with some of the finest bluegrass musicians around.
Barnett has worked with the likes of Bobby Hicks, Buddy Spicher and Vassar Clemens, and at age 15 he toured with Jesse McReynolds & His Virginia Boys, including regular weekend performances on the Grand Ole Opry. He has been a member of such New England favorites as Northern Lights and the Gordon Stone Trio. His extensive resume also includes stints as a member of the Deadly Gentlemen and the David Grisman Sextet.
Meanwhile, Jolliff has been playing the mandolin since he was seven years old, and by age 16 he was playing in a swing group with violin prodigy Alex Hargreaves. In 2008, he joined the New England-based new-acoustic group, Joy Kills Sorrow and recorded three albums with them. A 2011 graduate of Berklee College of Music, Jake also won the 2012 National Mandolin Championship and now tours with the Yonder Mountain String Band.
Barnett & Jolliff are slated to perform at the Ale House in Troy at 9pm on Wednesday (October 8). Tickets are $10.
