Chandler Travis leads the Catbirds back to town for a show at the Ale House in Troy on Saturday, October 25. Kicking off the evening’s festivities at 9pm will be the captivating singer-songwriter Pete Labonne.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comedy pioneer and icon Lily Tomlin is bringing her one-woman stand-up show to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Tickets go on sale on Thursday (September 18).
For Halloween, the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park is hosting “Noche De Los Muertos” at 7pm on Friday, October 31, featuring Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra with DJs Voltran and Kip Chapman.
Tickets are $32.50 in advance; $34 at the door. UPDATE, 10/6/14: The ticket price has been lowered to $25.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: To no one’s surprise, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is returning to Albany’s Times Union Center with their annual laser-shootin’, arena-rockin’ holiday tour – for two shows this year.
UPDATE: Two weeks ago we announced moe.’s pair of New Year’s Eve shows at Albany’s Palace Theatre, but now the ticket details have been announced. The price for tickets to the concert at 7pm on Tuesday, December 30 are $35 in advance; $40 at the door. Tickets for the 8pm show on New Year’s Eve (Wednesday, December 31) are $45 in advance; $50 at the door. Tickets for both shows are currently available only to Palace Theatre members, and will go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (September 19).

UPDATE: Yes, we previously announced the Woodstock Jazz Festival that’s taking over the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Saturday, October 4, but the line-up was kind of amorphous. Now we’re here to clear that up. It’s not quite really a full-fledged festival, but rather a triple-header. But what a line-up… Pianist-composer Uri Caine will play a solo set. Red Cred – a trio featuring Ben Perowsky, Chris Speed and John Medeski – will also perform. And the evening’s headliner is an all-star quartet comprised of John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette, John Medeski and Larry Grenadier. Showtime is 7:30pm, and tickets are $25-$75.
The double bill of the Sacred Shakers and Zoe Muth & the Lost High Rollers rolls into Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Friday, December 5. Tickets are $18 in advance; $20 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Place for Jazz’s fall concert series has been announced, including upcoming concerts at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady’s Whisperdome by the George Garzone Quartet, the Alexis Cole Quintet, the John Menegon Quartet and the Bria Skonberg Quintet.
The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock is hosting a singer-songwriter showcase at 9pm on Friday, October 10, featuring Beacon folk duo the Whispering Tree, Woodstock guitar virtuoso Billy Rogan, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Brian Mackey and Bearsville favorite Dean Batstone ($10). Also new at Bearsville, Connor Kennedy & Company serve up an all-Pink Floyd Halloween Freak-Out at 9pm on Friday, October 31. Admission is $20.
As we’ve previously announced, Lyle Lovett & His Acoustic Group are headed into The Egg in Albany on Wednesday, November 5, but the Texas troubadour and his band will also be making a tour stop at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm the night before, Tuesday, November 4. Priced at $38.50, $48.50 & $58.50, tickets for Lovett’s Calvin show go on sale to the general public on Friday (September 19).
